Ecademys

(This is me and Kirsty dancing. She was a great partner! I'll have to teach her to lead tho so I can be the girl once in a while).

(Picture is: Me, Kim and Kirsty).

Well as I said before I had a wonderful weekend. Sorry for those impatient ones that I didn't post earlier, but I have to do work while I'm at work. It's a strange concept I know. But anyway now it's lunchtime, and I'm eating sandwiches.

Firstly, I moved back into the flat on Thursday night I think. Kirsty's lovely friends Janet and Hamish are staying with us so it's a nice full flat at the moment. Actually I haven't been there a hell of a lot anyway. But I'll be there tonight!

Then on Friday night went round to spend some time with Darren. We watched the end of the Labyrinth, and it was super! I was so glad there was a happy ending (I wasn't anticipating that at all! ;-). Then on Saturday we slept till after noon. It's been SO long since I've done that, it was so great! Then we watched The Rock which I hadn't seen or heard much about and I was pleasantly surprised to find it was an excellent movie. I would highly recommend it. Also it had Dr Cox off Scrubs on it, he always turns up in funny places.

And of course Saturday night was the Ecademys. Which was the social for Kim and Kirsty's work that I spoke of last week (they work for Enviroment Canterbury, or ECan, thus the name). Thanks SO SO SO SO SO much Kim for taking me. It was such a cool fun night. There were yummy snacks all night, and three out of the four cocktails they served throughout the evening were nice. Plus lots of dancing! Very fun. And a jukebox. I'm so getting one of those! And ask Kirsty if you want to know what the funniest thing said that night was ;-) Oh and thanks to Hamish and Janet for picking us up after, although I'm sure it was worth it to hear the amusing postfunction babble.

Sunday Kirsty and I FINALLY got to watch some more Stargate (it had been some time). And later that night Darren and I watched Dodgeball and part of Alien vs Predator... we'd seen both before but Dodgeball is such a funny movie!!!

Ok bye :-) M

Update coming...

Well I had a great weekend. I'm going to update again probably at lunch in 4 or so hours because I want to write a bit and I don't have time right now. Also ifI'm lucky Kirsty will send me some photos off her digital camera. :-) M

Not much to report

I don't have much to say, but thought I'd write anyway just because everyone would probably miss me terribly otherwise.

The worst possible thing happened at work yesterday. Well some background first. Our client is in England which is quite a long way away from here. Also they are in quite a different time zone, a completely different one in fact. So when it's 8.35 in the morning here, it's 9.35 at night there (the day before). Or something like that. Now this has some great benefits, where deadlines are concerned etc. It also has some big downsides. The major one being that when they are all happily using the system we have made for them we are all tucked up in bed, or at least no where near work or our computers (well I'm not anyway). So if something goes terribly wrong at say, 2pm in their working day, that makes it 3am here, and so someone in our team needs to be woken up to go sort it out. The terrible terrible news is, after 8 months working here my manager has decided I'm now ready to be put on the phonelist of people to call. URGH!

Tomorrow is Kim and Kirsty's work social which I'm attending. Yay! Should be tons of fun. And tonight hopefully I'm watching the end of the labyrinth... very exciting!

1. I want to know if women lie about their beast size like men lie about their height? (BHN)

Dear Nick, What a cryptic question. Would I be right in thinking I should substitute "beast" with "breast" and "height"... with... er... um. Well anyway first I will answer your question as it reads. I have never lied about my beast size. I have no reason to, my beast is of perfectly average size, and though his size if a little hard to tell as he is covered with purple fur (with orange spots) you can pretty much tell how big he is just by looking.

Now to answer the question assuming you mean breasts. Well. Hmm. To be honest I am not the right woman to answer this question. Instantly I would said "no that's a stupid thing to do because all anyone needs to do is look at you and they can tell you're lying", but then I thought about it a little more. And I realised that some women do buy those big padded bras, or those water ones and even if they don't directly lie about their breast size, that is sort of an indirect lie. So I guess my answer is: woman who are happy with their breast size don't, woman who aren't happy and want to be bigger might. Sorry I can't give a more decisive answer than that.

Labyrinth

What a cool movie!

I can't actually remember if I ever saw this in its entirity when I was a child, I remember being quite scared of the goblins (understandably) but I had seen some of it. Anyway Darren and I started watching this last night (on loan from Amy, thankyou!) but we're only about halfway through so no one tell me what happens in the end. Also I've been thinking imagine if they made that movie today! It would get anihilated by critics! And who would be able to replace David Bowie? Hehe maybe Will Smith, or Robbie Williams... somehow no one seems right! These days it would be much easier to have a goblin queen... and the role would obviously have to go to Christina!

Um what other news have I? Well I'm moving back to the flat soon. I think they've been punished quite enough by my absense. Also I'm concerned about my plants. And I think my family has had quite enough of me, the lucky things!

Guitar

I thought it was about time I showed off my guitar to everybody. Isn't it stunning? Ok so that picture is not of my actual gutiar, but it looks exactly the same. It's so asthetically pleasing. So is my watch. But that's another story. Guitars are just nice looking though aren't they? Anyway so that's my guitar, it's beautiful and I love it.

Sorry I'm late today I had to spend quite some time defrosting my car. It was really hard to fit it in the microwave. Haha. But yeah big thumbs up on the great frost mother nature, it's a beauty!

I don't have much other news from Monday night.

Kim and I are goign to her work's social on Saturday this week which is going to be SUPER FUN! It's also Kirsty's work, so she will be there too! The theme is the Academy Awards or something along those lines so I get to dress up all beautiful and look gorgeous. I'll post pics, I promise.

Akaroa

Well I had a lovely lovely weekend. It wasn't the most eventful weekend ever it was just nice. Kim and I just spent the weekend relaxing, listening to music, chatting, eating, walking, and I worked on my lamp and Kim started a puzzle. So yeah it was really great - just what I needed.

Anyway these aren't the most exciting photos in the world (I could have posted about 20 pictures of stationary yachts so just be glad I didn't do that).

This is the beautiful sunset we saw driving home. I guess the picture isn't that beautiful, but it does prove that I saw a beautiful sunset, even if you can't! And you can see the lovely side mirror of Kim's car.

This is Kim when we walked up to the monument. Sorry you can't see her face, but trust me it's her.

This is the view from the balcony - I took this picture is to show that it snowed! Look at the snow on the hills, very pretty. It was still there when we drove home around 5.

Hope you all had a good weekend too!

Hello

Sometimes people suck. I'm of course referring to the thing in London which is very sad, and also the fact that someone has walked past my car and bent the back windscreen wiper so it no longer wipes. :( But about the London thing, I won't say too much as I don't really know much about what happened, just big hugs to friends and families of any victims. :)

Sorry there's no picture today. I know you've probably all come to expect dazzling pictures on my blog and now I've gone and totally let you down. Don't I suck. Oh well, hopefully I'll make up for it on Monday after my trip to Akaroa.

Maybe by then my lamp will be finished. I'll definitely put a picture of it up when it's done! It's looking so stunning. Which isn't surprising considering I was the one who made it. Well recovered it.

What else to say? Um I ran out of vitamin Bs and now I have three ulcers which is very sad for me. So now the good news is I've got some more but these ones are weird, you have to have like 5 tablets a day. Which is lots!

So yeah Kim and I are having pizza at Mum and Dad's tonight... then we're off to Akaroa. We're going to take our guitars so we might write a new song! Hehe it was about 5 1/2 years ago we wrote our last song together then. Gosh that makes me sound old. The song was brilliant, except it had some ungrammatical spannish in it and it was hard to sing without cracking up. I can't even remember what it was called now. Oh well.

Have a nice weekend everyone!

Weekend Away!

Yay! I'm going away for the weekend with Kim! It came completely out of the blue, just an idea she had yesterday. We're going to Akaroa (pictured above) but since it's pretty much the middle of winter it may not be quite as sunny as the picture. But that's ok. I'm really looking forward to it. I am a person who loves weekends away... used to go all the time and haven't been for ages! So it should be good. Now you haven't gone mad, it's still Thursday, this is all happening tomorrow. Unfortunately due to the late notice and little planning we couldn't get everyone to come so it'll jsut be the two of us, but we're thinking we'll go again soon!

Um also the final of Lost was on last night! Woo! Although I didn't watch it. This was for three reasons:

1) Andrew rang me right at the beginning and talking to him was so much more fun. Haha. Claire and I played the whole "Is your fridge running? - well you'd better go and catch it" prank. Mum and Dad have decided I'm childish. Duh!
2) And it finished at 10.30 and that's a whole hour after my bedtime.
3) Amy was sick and wasn't watching it with me anyway.

But I'm watching it tonight! Yay!

Today I'm giong to try really hard at work. I've been having bad afternoons, getting headaches and losing my concentration. Maybe coz of the coke thing.

Tattoo

Hello!

Everyone look I got a tattoo! I think most people know by now but some may not. It's still quite new, only a few weeks ok. Isn't it wonderful? I love it so much!!! The photo makes it look quite chunky but it's a lot more delicate than that.

It is the kanji symbol for peace/tranquility/low/contented etc. Ahhh isn't that nice? Lara says that in mandarin it's pronounced "an" which is cool too.

And yes it did hurt. But not a lot. It only took a very short time, so there wasn't long to think about the pain. And I think ones on the inner wrist hurt more than other places... so if anyone is thinking about getting a tattoo I definitely would say don't let the thought of pain stop you! Although I did almost faint afterwards... I think I must have accidentally held my breath as I was trying to keep still.

Um what else to say? It's great isn't it? Well obviously I think it is so it is highly doubtful anyone out there will be able to change my mind about that. And even if they do there's not a lot I can do about it so please don't try! ;-)

Today is ask Mindy day so if you have any questions let me know!

Love from :-) M

VERY FRUSTRATED

Hello everyone! I have decided I officially have the crappiest computer that exists. Now I have this picture that I took at home and download and anyway. Well actually I can't be bothered telling the story I'm so pissed off. It's actually quite pathetic. My CD Rom doesn't work. And when you try and use it it screams... honestly it makes such a loud noise that I don't know what's going on. And now after just trying the floppy... well that makes a noise like a typewriter for about 7 minutes before not working at all. Great eh?

This is my work computer by the way.

Humph.

Happy 4th of July!

I forgot for all the American's today is Independence Day. Happy Independence Day! Hehe. That's so funny. We're not even independent in New Zealand yet! How strange. For anyone who is not a New Zealander this means almost nothing. A representative of the Queen (who is a New Zealander anyway) has to sign each law that parliament passes but they never ever ever refuse to... and um we still celebrate Queen's Birthday. Oh and we get to go in the Commonwealth games. But other than that you wouldn't even know.

Also I thought I might occasionally add funny stargate quotations: Here's one:

"I would prefer not to consume bovine lactose at any temperature" - Teal'c after Sam suggests he has some warm milk. Hahaha. Hilarious!

I'm too tired to write much. Ok so here is a funny picture. I found it on someone else's blog. The detail is awesome isn't it? Hahaha

War Of Worlds

What can I say? I absolutely loved it. Not as much as Batman though. But I don't think anyone I went to it with even liked it. So what does that tell you? I have better taste than my friends.

Actually when it comes to movies etc I try and make the most of them, unlike some people I know (not mentioning any names... but I just happen to be related to two people whose names start with an A). I just try and like or even love a movie if it is at all possible! Hey you're going to get more joy out of life that way. However I don't do the same with people. Dumb eh? Like I'll always focus on the worst aspects of a relationship unless I'm completely secure in how the other person feels about me.

Anyway War of the Worlds. It's great! But I won't recommend it as no one else liked it. TO find out more read: War of the Worlds (Haha! That happens to be a link to the entire novel).

Also I CAN'T WAIT for the musical version to come out. I LOVED LOVED LOVED it when I was young. Which I think is why I loved the movie... bringing back childhood memories. Although I found it very scary. Especially when the Martians made Martian noises. I can remember also just listening to the electric guitars and stuff.... ahh it was great.

Joke Day!

Well I have no idea where this picture is from. I might have stolen it from someone's website, or maybe someone emailed it to me. So sorry if you've seen it all before but i thought it was funny. And as it was joke day I thought I should include a funny picture. Also incase it's not blatantly obvious the sign is Australian.

Well last night at sewing I finished my pjs (aka cow outfit extreme!). So now whenever I so desire I can look like a big snuggly cow. I'm trying to decide how much of a stir it would cause if I wore just the pj top at work. You know as a sort of coat thing. I wear pjs almost all the time at home. People might just think it's an eccentric shirt. But then again how appropriate would it be to wear an eccentric shirt?

Anyway send in jokes! Really funny ones please!

Also to Christchurchtonians. Amy my darling sister is getting tickets for War of the Worlds for tonight for a session sometime between 7.30 and 8.30 (inclusive) so you are welcome to come. If you want her to get a ticket let me know before 10am.

That is all.

You have a goal.

Indeed.

This conversation is over!

I Want One!

I love this picture!!!

Haha this is quite funny since most of my readers are male. Well most of my commenters are... I really have no idea how many of my readers are male. But anyway I want one of these! I think it would come in really handy... you know right when you're so frustrated that your teeth are grinding and you have steam coming out of your ears! Although I guess maybe in that state of mind it's not good to be playing with knives. Ah well who cares? I like the red colour especially. Mmmmm. :-)

And I've included some stargate pics for the boys below who feel that they are hard done by. Whatever!
Sooooooo what else do I have to say today? Not much. I'm at work early so I can go home early. Woo hoo! It's really weird coz there's no one else here and it's all dark outside and stuff.

Um tonight is my last night of sewing. I'm planning on finishing my pj top tonight... well getting very close to finishing anyway. I think I'll go back again next term though so I'll have to find something else cool to make!
Right well I think I'll actually get to work now!

Have a nice day everyone!

Very Frosty

One day I'm going to think of better titles for my posts. Rather than just obvious comments about the state of the temperature in Christchurch. But hey it might be of some slight interest to someone somewhere. But probably not.

Isn't that an awesome mural! Kon sent me an email with tons of them so you might have seen them before. Wish we had something cool like that in Christchurch. Although thinking about it it would probably become a driving hazard as driving past you couldn't help but stare. If any of you have ever seen the animals painted on the fence of that eye clinic on the corner of Papanui and I think Heaton St there was a lot of talk when they were painted that they should be painted over as it distracted drivers too much. I think everyone is used to them now and they're kind of faded anyway.

I saw a bad episode of Stargate last night. Yes you didn't think it was possible but it is. I suppose it was ok just very annoying, with some very grating characters. It was the one where Carter goes in a race with this alien dude Warrick and well anyway it sucked.

Today I'm having lunch with Lara yay!

Oh and last night I got my car back!!!!!!!! It did end up getting fixed. I love it so much! Oh how I missed my car. Anyway I think I'm going to sell it though since it's just got it's warrant so I'm on the lookout for another car. If i can bear to part with mine.

Frosty!

Hello,

It was nice and frosty this morning. Wasn't it?

I'm at work at little later than usual so I won't write much. Just hope everyone had a nice weekend. And Andrew didn't like Batman so he sucks. He must be flawed somehow. Oh actually..... silly me there is something extremely important I have to write about today. Oh two things actually. First Kirsty's superhero name is now Flame. So you can call her that if you like. Andrew's is the Slash... no point for guessing what his secret power is. Hehe.

But most importantly....

Drumroll please.....

We saw Daniel Jackson with no top on!!!!!

Yes you thought it was never going to happen. You all thought me and Kirsty were mad for even hoping.... but dear friends, on Saturday night, after the rugby, when we put in the first disk of season seven, the gods smiled on us. Infact not only did they smile but the bestowed the most precious of all gifts... Daniel Jackson bare chested! Well actually he was completely naked. So if you heard A LOT of screaming just after the rugby had finished on poor man's tv... it was most likely me and Kirsty. Ahhh. What a beautiful moment.

Ok bye!

My Dad

.
Happy Friday!

Everybody meet my Dad. He's the loveliest man in the world. You can guess which one is him... although most of you probably already know. I'd be interested to see out of those who didn't know if they guessed right because we do look alike. This is him doing work, um I'm not sure exactly what he does but apparently it involves shaking hands and posing for pictures. Maybe he's the queen. Actually that's a pretty silly thing to say. He's not the Queen. Bradley is the Queen.

ANYWAY... there's a reason I decided to write about my Dad. There's a wee story. My Dad (who is wonderful) had a nice little outboard motor that didn't work. So he took it to a man to fix it. The man spent some time on it and then contacted Dad and told him "there's no point in fixing this motor, but since I've already spent about $200 worth of time and materials on it I won't charge you if you just give me the motor and I'll use it for parts." Ok so my Dad thought that sounded alright. I mean if the motor can't be fixed there's no point in having it around.

But here's the twist. Dad finds out that a friend of his at work has just bought an outboard motor. And low and behold it is the same motor the nasty man told Dad wasn't worth fixing. He sold it to Dad's friend for $600. Now that makes me mad! My Dad is such a nice person to everyone and then there are scummy people around who just rip people off and scam them. Shame on you you nasty horrible man!

Anyway I've been playing around with the layout and stuff of the blog. I'm not finished yet but I don't love doing it so it might stay like this for some time. If you really can't stand looking at it like this let me know and I'll change it back.

Bring on the weekend!

:-) M

My Car is Dying :-(

I've just had some terrible news. My car is going to die.

A few months ago I got rear-ended. Now This dented my bumper and all sorts but the car still went (which was the most important thing to me). Now when I take it to get a warrant I find that the chassis is bent and it's probably not worth fixing. So my car might be dead. I'm so upset. I think I might cry.

:-(

I loved my car!

Jokes Today

Hello,

After last week's HUGE ask anyone day we're having a break from questions today (well an official break, I can't really stop you from asking anything)... and I invite you to submit a joke. I realise asking for a joke on the spot is quite a big ask, but I'm guessing at the least Nick will submit a joke - he's always good for a joke.

Anyway today is a great morning! It's not so cold anymore. And we might even get sun. And I've got a new program at the gym and it was fun. And I ate porridge and it was yummy.

I can't help but think, I'm not as interesting or introspective now that I'm a lot more positive about life. Maybe my blog would be more interesting if I had issues that were constantly bothering me. At the moment the only thing that pisses me off terribly is stupid driving. I was going at least 55km/h in a 50 zone the other week and some idiot overtook me! This was just driving to work. Grrr.

Darren and I are having an ab competition. I have no idea how this will be judged but I'm pretty sure I'll win. I think we're judging at the end of the year so I'll let you know how I go. We also had a bet that I could do the splits by the end of the year, but I've decided I don't really want to do the splits anymore, so I think I'll lose that one. Oh well, can't win them all!

Batman Begins

Well I really really really enjoyed that movie. It was the best movie I've seen all year. There wasn't anything in it that was annoying. But I won't say anything else about it as not to spoil it for others.

Other than that my weekend was quiet. So I won't write anymore than this as it will no doubt be uninteresting and it would be better if you all just went back to your days.

Oh! Except I saw two awesome Stargate episodes... the one with the first human form replicators. And some other cool one that I can't remember.

Bye!

I forgot to say congratulations to my Mum who just got a new job!! Well done Mum!! She's now going to be teaching at Waimari school. It must have been because I helped her shop for her interview outfit ;-)

Last Day

Hello,

Today is Andrew's last day at work. So if anyone can think of any non-destructive funny prank he can play let him know. Especially if it's really funny. It would be good if icecream could somehow be incorporated as well.

Last night I watched Stargate. I love Stargate. I haven't really discussed this much so far but I'm taking this opportunity to do so. Stargate is great. It is so funny! And the characters are just great... they're all so likeable and have such a great dynamic in relating to each other. Also Daniel is hot. But sometimes Stargate is annoying, like when they download someone's soul onto a zip drive. Sometimes story lines like tht make me cringe. But generally it is great.

Something else I love is when girls dye their hair two completely different colours at once. I think it looks sophisticated and not at all whore-ish.

Tonight I am going to see Batman Begins! Yay! Christian Bale is so incredibly awesome. He's going to be a wicked Batman. Did you know he also has like 5 dogs and he found them all stray... what a sweetie. Also last night I went to get tickets for the aforementioned movie. It was my first time going to Hoyts at Riccarton. I must say I didn't go into any theatres obviously but I didn't like the feel of the whole thing. It seemed to big and white for New Zealand, like I felt like I was in America again. Also it had a slight airport feel.

At the same time I went to Borders. Which was incredible. I have never ever seen such a huge book shop (even in America, although I'm sure there's millions). Plus they had books by two of my favourite authors and I've never seen any books by Raymond Chandler in a bookshop in New Zealand before. I didn't buy the book (the long goodbye) because it wasn't a particularly nice edition. But next month I"m bugeting to buy a book from there. Woo!

Have a nice weekend all!

Gelayday

Andrew and I have made up a new day. That is it's name. Gelayday. The good news is it's part of the weekend, so now we have an 8 day week, but with a three day weekend! (Andrew I know we didn't discuss this but I hope you don't mind).

Last night I had a strange dream where I moved into a little flat thing attached to the house that my parents live in (but doesn't exist in real life). And then I was walking aroudn town with my cousins, Andrew, Kirsty, Hamish and Kate and I ran into Susannah who was all dressed up in a toga with a bunch of friends. Um then I went home and tried to call someone but the phone didn't work. It was very frustrating. So I awoke frustrated. I haven't tried any real phones yet... but I'm hoping my dream wasn't a premonition.

Thanks for answering questions everyone!

Sewing last night was good. I'm learning a lot. Also it's absolutely incredible the number of injuries I do myself with pins. Last week I had quite a gash down my leg from trying on pants with pins in them, and last night I cut my hand by jabbing myself accidentally with a pin.

Today is Thursday! Yay! I love Thursdays. Fridays atre good too but I find Friday afternoons drag terribly.

Have a nice day all!

1. From Amy To Mindy:
Have you seen my Lion King cd?

No Amy unfortunately I haven't seen it for quite some time. I do, however, know where your Queen Greatest Hits CD is. I'm sorry about that.

2. From Nick To Mindy:
How/Why do people get crush's on other people when they are quite happy in a relationship with someone else?

I believe when this happens it happens in a similar sort of way to people lusting after movie stars. There's no way you'd get mad at a partner for thinking Brad Pitt is hot, and if you are truly in love with someone a crush on someone else would probably be at the same sort of level. Hehe or maybe you're the kind of person who desires more than one partner... go see Gloomy Sunday. Maybe it's to do with a sort of three-some fantasy thing. So I do believe it's possible and not unhealthy if kept at a level that is not disrespectful to your partner.

3. From Nick to Everyone:
What would you do if you had 6 months to live?

Mindy: I'd quit work and live off my parents. And I'd wake up at 6 every morning. And I'd get some great tattoos (as they wouldn't stretch due to pregnancy or old age). I'd try and write a novel or poetry. I'd try and do one special thing with each person who was special to me, eg go to Disneyland with Amy, go to Europe for a week or something with Lara, go sailing for a week with Dad... things like that.

Amy: If I had six months to live i think i would go to disneyland
then disneyworld
then euro disney
then tokyo disney
then disney hong kong....(need I go on?)

Adam: I would attempt to mastermind a cunning caper, most likely criminal in nature. I've always wanted to try a great train robbery, but they don't seem to carry valuable stuff any more. So I would probably try my hand at being an art thief or a jewel thief.

4. From Nick to Amy:
Using economic terms explain to us why you think money is the root of all evil.

four simple words:people respond to incentives

and also, i never said that i believe money is the root of all evil. it is a hell of a lot more efficient than bartering goods for several reasons:
divisible
valuable
transportable
hard/costly to replicate
cardinal
good store of value
etc etc

5. From Nick to Kirsty:
I've had 9 X-rays in one year of my neck, whats your record?

Dear Nick,

I only ever had 1 x-ray. ever I've had about 7-8 MRI scans so far in my life, You win.

6. From Nick to Andrew:
If you had to choose a different line of work, what would it be?

Hmmm. Thats a good question Nick. I would have to say that I would probably like to do medical research. Being in computers we invent stuff, and I would like to discover "truth" instead once in a while.Sorry, boring answer. What I meant to say was - um - a porn, um, director, in.... sweden.

7. From Nick to Killer Chicken:
Do you think big bird is a sell out?

dear Nick
Big bird is a slut.
from killer chicken.

8. From Nick to Boris the Ostrich:
Why does ostrich meat taste so damn good?

Ostrich meat tastes so good as it has a sweet, slow acting poisionthat kills within 10 years. A tell-tale sign of its affects is anunusual amount of hairiness in the sufferer.

9. From Nick to Adam:
Please could you describe to us your perfect girl?

Nick, this a difficult question because, as you know, I'm so desperate that I feel that I could settle for pretty much anything at the moment. If I had to give an answer though, and I guess I do, then I would say that my perfect girl would be cheerful, sweet, funny and smart. Also she would be extremely patient because I am very childish, but would also be childish herself. I think she would have to be motivated because then she could motivate me to do things to counteract my natural laziness. Aside from that she would be incredibly good looking - hey you did say perfect. Oh and short, because I'm short too and I wouldn't want to get a sore neck. I think that's about all. Oh, I guess it would be good if she owned a brewery and a corporate box in Jade Stadium. And she would have red hair and green eyes, maybe irish. Actually an accent would be quite nice. Ok, that should do it.

10. From Nick to Laracroft:
When's your next film coming out?

11. From Nick to Bradley:
Who's your favourate flatmate?

dear nick
I love my mummy the most.
Especially her arm with the blanket over it
from Bradley

12. From Nick to McFly:
Shouldn't you be studying?

13. From Mindy to Killer Chicken:
Why are you so mean? Were you molested as a child? Do you just have an evil sense of humour? Or are you just inherently bad?

dear Mindy
I am mean. What do you expect with a name like killer?
from killer chicken

14. From Mindy to Nick:
If you suddenly became a female tomorrow, how would you act differently to other females. Ie is there something that females invariable do, that drives guys mad, that youve experienced from a guy's perspection, so consequently would never ever do - I guess unless you were trying to punish a guy for some reason.

This is an interesting question, as women by nature are inherently evil. They obviously don't mean to be, they do actually TRY to be sweet and innocent and lovely. Actually for the most part all women are sweet, innocent and lovely. But the fact remains that women inevitably twist us guys around your little fingers, get us to break our back for you and toss us away when it suits you. And god bless you women, we just LOVE you for it. Now knowing this, if i were magically turned into a women i would pretty much manipulate all the men around me to do my bidding. I'd offer the hint of sex with me as a bartering tool for what i want. I would get guys worked up to buy me all the alcohol i want, and food and presents. Basically i would be the biggest flirt round. Now you might say that you know women like this, but lets be honest here, eventually all women that are like that eventually find a guy they like and the roles end up reversed. This however would NEVER happen to me, as all guys are bastards and i'm only attracted to women. The question might also occur to you to ask why i don't do this to women. Well the simple fact is hat i REALLY like women, and while i see them for what they are (evil), i still feel the need to spoil them rotten. So mindy i think that answers your question, in essence i wouldn't do anything different, i would just do it better.

15. From Mindy to Kirsty:
What is your favourite kind of discharge?

My favourite type of discharge so far has to be the bubbly green one I found.

2 month birthday!

Hello!

Today is the 2 month birthday of this blog! Hoorah!

birthday-cake

Also in special celebration today is ask anyone day! So post in your questions, if you have an answer email it to me. And then during the day I'll compile the questions and answers, and they'll be posted by tomorrow!

:-) M

ps Of special note yesterday Adam left, and now he is back so everyone who was worried can now stop worrying!

pps Here are the lyrics to a beautiful very haunting song (in a rock kind of way). It's off Apocalypse now, hehe actually it was also on the Simpsons on Saturday night but in an Apocalypse now take off bit. You should all listen to it.

The End - The Doors

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I'll never look into your eyes...again

Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need...of some...stranger's hand
In a...desperate land

Lost in a Roman...wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
All the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain, yeah

There's danger on the edge of town
Ride the King's highway, baby
Weird scenes inside the gold mine
Ride the highway west, baby

Ride the snake, ride the snake
To the lake, the ancient lake, baby
The snake is long, seven miles
Ride the snake...he's old, and his skin is cold

The west is the best
The west is the best
Get here, and we'll do the rest

The blue bus is callin' us
The blue bus is callin' us
Driver, where you taken' us

The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door...and he looked inside
Father, yes son, I want to kill you
Mother...I want to...fuck you

C'mon baby, take a chance with us
C'mon baby, take a chance with us
C'mon baby, take a chance with us
And meet me at the back of the blue bus
Doin' a blue rock
On a blue bus
Doin' a blue rock
C'mon, yeah
Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end
It hurts to set you free
But you'll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die
This is the end

Dreams

Well I had two very strange dreams last night.

One of them I was stuck inside a house trying to escape (which some other people, I don't know who they were though). But when we went outside, or even got too close to a window we got shot at by the characters from the Guru (which was on TV last night). I can't even remember if we eventually got out or not. Probably not. The other dream involved my work, and there were tons of people here on work experience and I knew them all. But they weren't people I know in real life. Anyway it was very annoying as they were using my computer and I wanted to check my email!

Also Andrew had a dream about his cellphone. I think that's a very bad sign. Maybe they need some time apart.

Last night I baked a banana cake. I actually ended up putting three bananas in it, which wasn't a problem as we'd gone shopping. It was yummy. Well it still is. Most of it is still left. And unless Bradley eats it all during the day I'm expecting it still to be there when I get home.

Nobody gave me any good ideas for books to read, other than Harry Potter, so I guess I'll have to start reading that.

Busy busy busy

Well I had a very busy weekend. It was great.

On Friday I watched Shaun of the Dead (or Sean of the dead or something I can't really remember how it was spelt). Then SaturdayI went shopping with Mum for all kinds of stuff including some material for me to make pjs with. Then I had to re-pot a ton of my plants which took awhile.

As for my pjs I cut out all the material - it is a great pattern - cow spots all over it. We watched The Terminal that night, which was quite good I thought. On Sunday I went back to the fabric shop and bought some more material to make pj pants for Darren. Then I made them. He loves them - welll that's what he said. He did tell me that if I'd made them he'd wear them no matter what pattern they were, so he can't really complain that he got black with flames all over.

I need a really good book to read now as I've finished my other one. I'm sort of reading a non-fiction book about Marcel Duchamp but it would be nice to have something a little more engaging for night-time reading. And I know I've got Harry Potter to read but I don' t quite feel like giving into it just yet. So if anyone has any recommendations I'm open to them!

Have a nice day!

Competition Results!

Hello!!!

Now the correct answer was.... I was on Queen Street in Auckland. And I was extremely happy because I'd just seen the Mars Volta at the Big Day Out the day before (this kind of thing makes one happy for quite some time). And so the question is who does the prize go to?

Well I am awarding three prizes:
One to Slartibartfast
"You were going to the national banana convention, which is why you were happy. Your location is in a street in Auckland where you have just witnessed someone chuck a banana skin out a car window at you which is contributing to your happiness, as you do quite like bananas. "

One to Andrew for
"You might be going to a RHCP concert, Big Day Out etc. "

And one to Kirsty just because
"you are happy because you have just seen how gorgeous you look in the shop mirror. "

The grand prize goes to Johnny Depp for:
"Mindy, I think you're happy because you're being you. Your natural beauty is enough to brighten the sky on the darkest of days. You radiate effortlessly through the night, while the sun runs for cover. No outside being can reduce your happiness and through this you are a constant inspiration to generations of lonely souls. A photo can not possibly do justice to your infinite qualities. Mindy, will you marry me?"
But his prize is that he now gets to marry me.

Thank you all for entering it was a great effort!

:-)

Competition

Ok it's not a very exciting one... actually I shouldn't put myself down like that.... it's mega mega exciting! Woo hoo!!

Ok so you all see that little picture of me for my profile (and appears with all my comments) the competition is you have to guess/speculate as to why I look so radiant and happy (lets just assume that you agree that I look radiant and happy). Now the answer is NOT dodgy! Anyone who submits a dodgy answer will be disqualified. The prize will be awarded at my discretion to either the person who is closest to the truth, or the person with the most inventive/interesting/funny answer. And you can put forward as many suggestions as you like, but if you put forward a dodgy one all of your attempts will be disqualified. The prize will be a packet of tim tams because they are yummy. Or if you don't like tim tams it will be something else.

Andrew just gave me a good idea. I will also be looking for people who accurately guess where I am. So location or why I'm happy or inventiveness/humour will be the three categories I will be considering. So aim for one or more of these.

Unfortunately Lara is not allowed to enter as she took the photo. Sorry Lara.

Answers

1. If my understanding is correct, people breathe in oxygen and then breathe out co2. SO how does mouth-to-mouth resuscitation work then - aren't you just breathing co2 into them? (Adam)

Dear Adam, great question! The human body does not convert all the oxygen in each breath taken, in addition inhaled air is not made up entirely of oxygen, infact it's only 20%. When we breath we use about 20% of the oxygen in each breath. Therefore you exhale about 15 to 16% oxygen, which is more than enough for the person to get by on till they start breathing themself.

2. What are the rules about when you are allowed to get with someone. When your in a good relationship with someone, obviously you can't get with someone else... but what about when that relationship goes sour? Do you have to break up before its allowed? What exactly are the rules on this? (BHN)

Dear Nick, I am sort of curious why you're asking this. But anyway the answer is if you are going out with someone you are going out with them. And even if the relationship is sour out of respect for it and what it was and in the interest of ending as peacefully as possible you must break up with the other person first. Those are my moral standards, and I do not intend to impose them on anyone they are just what I believe and what I'd expect from someone I'm involved in.

3. I was going out with a blanket once and then I slept with a dressing gown without breaking up with the blanket first. Was this wrong? (Bradley)

Dear Bradley, I can only tell you that according to my personal standards I believe that was wrong. Also you are too young to be dating let alone sleeping with anyone! And if you're not too young, then you're too old to be playing with toys... so you have to choose between the two son!

Fire

It was brought to my attention this morning that some people might not know the the Red Hot Chili Peppers version of Jimi Hendrix's Fire is excellent. I would highly recommend it. Even if you're not a fan of the original the cover is quite dynamic.

Also it's ask Mindy day today! Although I feel I've already answered most of the questions about Life the Universe and Everything (hehe) but if by chance there are still any left throw them my way.

I can't remember my dreams at all last night. Although annoyingly I awoke at 4.50 and those oooh good I get to sleep for another hour and a half, and then proceeded to remain awake until 6.20 when I got up. Also I finished my painting last night. It looks beautiful and now I'm going to start a new one... slightly bigger this time. But I'm going to wait until I've got a really good idea for it.

Also Happy Birthday to Helen for Sunday!

And have a lovely day everyone.

Squeak!

Good morning everyone,

Sorry I'm late this morning. It's because I had to eat my porridge. Normally I just throw it at the walls, but Andrew banned that.

Well wasn't the long weekend nice and long? I'll say it was.

I bought two pairs of socks.

Also I had a dream that I was having a baby, but there was only a 27% chance of it living so I was very distraught. Following on from the baby theme, the next day I had a deram that I was babysitting the child of the ambassador to New Zealand from somewhere in the Middle East (the dream wasn't specific). Also in that dream I went to the school canteen and bought some red licorice and a chocolate milk for $3.50 which I thought was rather a lot.

I don't think I have any other news. Sorry.

Bye!

Hi,

I'm back at work today. I tried really hard to eat my breakfast, and I'm only feeling a little dizzy so I'm sure I'll be fine. :-)

Hope everyone has a nice Friday.

:-(

I hate being sick.

That is all.

Bye.

ps Hehe that comment about Mum and Dad was because I was round one day and they were reading the newspaper about a whitehouse (I think) employee who had a pornographic blog which had caused all kinds of problems. So Mum warned me against that.

Answers

1. Why are guys so easy to manipulate? (BHN)

Dear BHN, the reason guys are so easy to manipulate is that they have 4 billion more brain cells than females. Although this fact might not automatically seem to answer your question bear with me while I explain. Despite the fact that men often have slightly bigger heads than feamels this difference is not nearly enough to cope with an extra 4 billion braincells. Therefore whilst female's braincells are all spaced out comfortably with enough room to operate successfully, men's are not. They are all squished up and cramped and uncomfortable and many braincells just deal with this lot by simply turning off and going to sleep. Therefore men's brains in general are simpler and do not work as well. Therefore when you have a complex functioning brain, as do all females it is not difficult to use this brain to manipulate those lesser beings... eg men. Hope this helps.

2. Why are people so good at telling other people what to do but hopeless at doing it themselves? (John F)

Dear John F, the reason for this is that it is very easy to talk (write/instruct) about things. Doing them in invariably more difficult. This effect is magnified when the "doing" is something difficult, unpleasant, or against the person's natural tendencies. Because basically we run on emotions and instinct and these are very hard to fight. Just talking about things we don't need to fight the instincts but when it comes to behaving in a particular way we have tons of things working against us. As of all things there is a counter example. I find it much harder to tell people what to do when learning to water-ski than i do actually waterskiing. Hope this helps.

3. is "jumpstart" code for anything? :P (BHN)

Dear Nick, My Dad sometimes reads this blog (which is why it's pretty much pg). But in this particular case jumpstart is not code for anything other than jumpstart. In cases where it is code for something else I certainly wouldn't be publishing it on the web. If I learnt anything from Mum and Dad it is that pornographic blogs can come back to bite you in the ass.

4. Adam is easily startled isn't he? (Mindy)

Dear Mindy, yes it would seem that way.

Hello World

Hello,

I am still sick. So again I implore you all to stay away from me if at all possible. To help you out I have confined myself to my room for the day... so stay out of my room and you should be fine.

I found a really geeky webpage http://www2.latech.edu/~acm/HelloWorld.shtml for those of you that are geeks. Me? No way I'm not a geek.

Today is ask Mindy day so if you want to do if you don't don't, I don't mind. I don't really have much to do today. I think I'll try and sleep. I'm at that wonderful stage of the flu or whatever where I hurt all over especially my back so the thought of lying down again makes me cry. Actually I'd much rather be at work, than be sick but what are you going to do?

I got a lovely 7.15 wake up call from Darren this morning who needed a jump start. So I gave him one. Nice of me huh?

Ok bubye,

:-) M

Almost Dead

Hi,

I'm sorry to have to say this but I'm almost dead. Actually I'm not. I'll probably be fine. But just in case you are all welcome to claim stuff of mine via commenting today, and I will consider your requests when I compile my will later this afternoon. ;-)

Actually I'm going to the doctor soon so I might be all better as that's what doctors do. I had a very uncomfortable night though. Every time I cough I feel like I'm coughing out my lungs and I'm consistently surprised when they don't shoot out my mouth.

Last night. I got home. Was quarantined breifly. Then went to Mum and Dad's. Where I sat and read my book until tea. Tea was yummy. It was just me and Mum and Dad. Then after tea we had these new huge trumpets. I think. They were very very yummy. Then I went back to the flat. Watched Shortland Street and then went to bed. I woke up at 4am and read my book at little. And now I'm here. Waiting. For 9.30 and the doctor.

Kirsty has just left so I'm all alone. But that's ok. I'm going to go back to bed soon.

But the good news for everyone is I can comment here all day. Expect responses to your comments within 5 seconds!

Love from

:-) M

Good morning World!

I hope you are all well today and wonderfully refreshed and ready for the week after a fulfilling and enjoyable weekend.

Also check out the coolest belt ever. I will um worship anyone who buys and wears one of these. So if you want my undying admiration forever you now know how to get it!

Also I finished reading the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy over the weekend. It was super! Just super! Super duper even! I'm now reading the next one, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe. It is shaping up to be just as super. I have a feeling though that I might get rather depressed when I've finished them as then there will be no more. Oh well I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

My weekend was ok. I had a rather sore stomach all of Saturday which was annoying. So I had a very quiet night at home by myself just watching Stargate. But Claire and Clemency came round to hang out at the flat on Saturday during the day which was fun. Except when they polluted the air with Hilary Duff, Kelly Clarkson and numerous other horrors. Bring back the Backstreet Boys I say! ;-) I tried to help them out by putting on a Led Zeppelin CD but they didn't take to it too well and as soon as I left the room it was back to Natasha Beddingfield or whatever her name is.

Sunday morning I caught up with Susannah, who was up for the rugby and Helen and Kim. Which was really nice. And then Kim came round in the afternoon and with Andrew we painted these gorgeous pots (well the pots were just average, they were gorgeous after we painted them). I'm going to break up one of my peace lilies and plant them in the pots. Probably next weekend. I might have a few spare if anyone needs a peace lily let me know!

Ok bubye!

Not sleepy!

Hi!

(Oops I just wrote Ho! by accident but I fixed it up as you can see).

I'm not sleepy this morning. Although my sleeping pattern does need a bit more work. To get up at 6.30 I should really go to bed to be asleep by 10.30 (which for me and my terrible inability to fall asleep in less than an hour) means I should go to bed at 9.30, however, I'm always far too awake so stay up much later, and then I'm so sleepy the next day but by night again I'm all awake, which is just silly. However it's the weekend so I'm sleeping in tomorrow anyway and I'll worry about this next week.

I'm getting used to Amy's car. I used to stall it all the time, which is quite a feat in an automatic. But it seems to like me a bit more and we're slowly getting to respect one another. Plus her car is so much cleaner than mine which is a nice change.

Oh and sorry Nick you know I think you're great, I was just kidding about everything. Although I'm sure you know that and you were just pulling my chain. Actually terrible memories are flooding back. Ahh the desperate frustration during conversations with Nick as he intentionally tried to rile me up. We even had a fight about spelling once and he made me so pissed off, and to think he must have been cracking himself up laughing.

Also I'm here way earlier. This is because I didn't have to give Andrew a ride. I wasn't aware of this but obviously he holds me up terribly in the morning ;-) And that's all I have to say about that.

Oh also I drank over 1.5L of water during the day yesterday. Andrew says it's a sure sign of Leprosy. I'm not too sure about that, but I'll keep you updated.

Right onwards and upwards! I'm not quite sure why I said that but it's said now and there's nothing I can do about it.

:-) M

Answers

1. How can it be sexual harrasment, if they enjoy it? (BHN)

Nick, if you're asking from personal experience, they weren't enjoying it, they were just pretending. Harsh I know. But really what was I supposed to say to such a... sigh.. oh... nevermind.

2. Oh and why is it that most bands first album is so much better than the next couple, but their last couple of albums tend to be just as good? (BHN)

Dear Nick, well I can counter this with numerous examples as I personally find second albums often much better than first. Eg Live... first album Mental Jewelry was ok, but Throwing Copper will forever be their best. But counter examples aside there are a few reasons why some bands may have first albums much better than their next. One is their first album is the music that got them signed often... the band has just come to chemistry and point where they're good enough for people to take notice. The second album they get to release without having to prove too much or work as hard as they did with their first. Also many bands don't have much left by their second album. They wrote a really good first album then find on their second album they're just doing exactly the same thing again (eg Linkin Park, Creed). Some of these bands might eventually figure out that they need to evolve and thus their last couple of albums might be good too. Also bands mature which could explain the increase in quality of later albums.

3. Where do babies come from? (Adam)

Dear Adam, since you didn't specify a type of baby I think it is safe to assume you are asking about baby carrots. Well Adam contrary to popular belief true baby carrots are actually fully mature carrots that have been bred intentionally to be small, rather than regular carrots that have been picked early. As to where they actually come from well they come from a garden of course. The farmer will plant some seeds, give them love and care and then presto! baby carrots. Hope this helps.

4. Well who has missed me the most? (Bradley)

Dear Bradley, I missed you the most! I know this because I took a survey and did a statistical analysis of the data and how much I missed you was significantly greater (where p < 0.05) than anyone else.

5. Why don't more girls wear pink? (BHN)

Dear Nick, lots of girls do wear pink. I can only assume the girls who never wear pink do so because they don't want guys to think they are silly. The reason those girls think guys might think they are silly is because guys hardly ever wear pink so those girls just assume that guys hate pink. Therefore if you want more girls to wear pink then you should try and encourage as many males to wear pink as possible, and you personally should wear all pink all the time.

6. Why is pink so pleasing on the eye? (BHN)

To give you a slightly serious answer, it probably has something to do with blood, and sexual instincts. I won't elaborate much but the reason women wearing lipstick is attractive is because when aroused blood rushes to their lips and lipstick emulates this. There is probably some sort of primeval instinct in you that makes you love pink so much. Other people don't love pink as much as you because they are probably more evolved (which may also explain why you're so hairy!). Haha. I'm funny.

Yawn

Hi,

I'm tired again!

Also I haven't answered the questions. But I will. Um I guess I'm just working far too hard at work these days. Actually I'll do them in my lunch break today I reckon.

Sewing was ok last night.

My car now doesn't have a driver's seat window which is a bit annoying. I'm driving Amy's car instead for awhile. But it's a weird car. Although I'm extremely grateful that she is lending it to me. Thanks!

Tonight our flat got invited out to dinner. Well it was assumed we were invited but no one actually bothered to get round to doing the inviting part. So we're trying to decide whether to boycott as a demostration of how offended we were. Or just go and try and guilt them into payuing for us. "Them" being the family.

Ok toodle loo.

Ask Mindy Day!

Hello everyone!

Today is ask Mindy day. I'm sure by now there's not many questions left out there for you all to ask. But I do still have two outstanding questions from Nick and Adam to answer from last week and if there are any new ones fire them this way.

Oh the picture is from the link Andrew posted yesterday. I have this book! How exciting is that? I remember it vaguely... but I do remember looking at the sweet shop, and the jars of sweets and thinking how come I've never been to a sweet shop like that!

Dinner last night was nice. And then we watched Bad Santa, which was ok but I was pretty tired and drifted off a bit. I'm still tired now. In fact what I'd really really really love would be to go home and go back to bed and read all day. But I can't :-(

I've got sewing tonight though so that will be fun. And then I can go straight to bed after that I suppose! Woo hoo!

Well have a good day!

Nothing Interesting

Hello,

I don't really have anything interesting to say.

Oh we got some more milk, so now we're set till next Monday (phew!)

And today is Darren's Birthday. He is turning OLD! Haha. So we're going out for dinner tonight. Yummy! Happy Birthday Darren!

And I've been to the gym two mornings in a row. Yay for me. And my washing is on the line but I'm suspecting it will never ever dry and I'll have to wear wet clothes for all eternity. In my defence it was lovely and sunny when I hung it out yesterday lunchtime.

That is all.

Goodbye.

:-) M

Happy Monday!

Good morning everyone! Today is the 23rd of May. This is a date of note for two reasons:

1) It is now four days before my warrant of fitness expires.
2) And it is the day that most of the milk in my fridge expires.

Luckily I managed to finish off/tip out most of it before work. And we still have some that will last till Thursday so everything will be ok.

So in the weekend I watched the Spongebob Movie. It was AWESOME! There's this new character in it... and guess what her name is.... MINDY! WOO HOO! Also I watched Open Water. Mostly just because I was very interested as to how a movie about two people floating in the middle of the ocean alone could not suck. I did not find the answer. As this movie sucked BIG TIME! It was so terrible. The most exciting part of the film was where the girl threw up. Honestly we were sitting there the entire time just willing the sharks to finish them off (although I thought it would have been a nice twist if they'd gone insane and killed each other).

Also went to the netball on Friday night. It was very very fun! Even though we lost. And I saw Revenge of the Sith which I also thoroughly enjoyed. So all in all it was a great weekend.

Back!

RHCP Lyric of the Day: A wanna be gangster thinking he's a wise guy, rob another bank he's a sock 'em in the eye guy

I'm back... well for now. I don't want ya all to go taking me for granted and such. Let it be known I could disappear again at anytime. Look out!

Well the weather is awesome! I'm loving it. And... I don't have to go out tonight. I am going to go home, and do the dishes (if Andrew hasn't) then cook tea and then sit on the couch ALL NIGHT! Woo! And maybe we'll light the fire, although it's not really that cold.

Last night I had my second sewing class and I managed to severely injure myself. I pricked my thumb with a pin. Now don't laugh. It still hurts! And I think it's getting infected. I'm guessing within the next week or so they'll probably have to amputate my thumb. Luckily it's on my right hand.

Um no other news. I'm quite distressed about O'Neil. He hasn't shown up. Kirsty and Andrew are telling me to look in the couches... but I think I'll wait a little longer before taking such drastic measures. Oh and I hope everyone who went enjoyed Star Wars last night!

:-) M

ps I'm saving the three questions and I'll answer them tonight probably.

Almost the weekend!

RHCP Lyric of the Day: Born to adore the big bad bison

Good morning everyone! It's all yucky and hot in my office.... but that's ok. I had a lovely evening last night Darren came an dpicked me up and we went for a drive over the hill to the harbour, then we drove around looking at the pretty lights and stuff. It made me miss Church Bay a bit, so if no one is using the house I'm going to go over and stay Saturday night.

Other than that I don't have much planned for the weekend. I need to get some bits and pieces done, but hopefully it will be a bit quiet unlike last weekend. Might be going out with Rach, Kim and Helen tonight but I'll have to see how things go.

Have a nice Friday everyone.

BTW you all suck, no one told me any thing else that was fun to do AND say. Snorkel is still the best I reckon.

Things that are fun to say and fun to do!

RHCP Lyric of the Day: No I can not keep my mouth shut
Here is my list of things that are fun to say and do:

Slurp
Swivel
Snorkel

Ok it's not a very big list... does anyone else have anything they think is especially fun to say and do? I know this sounds like a kindergarten lesson, but I am geuninely very interested!

In my life. I had my first sewing class last night. It was fun the people were all very nice. I took up my jeans and the lady said I did a very neat job. I can't decide whether to make a dressing gown or some pants though. I think I'll make the pants. And Kirsty is back at the flat! Already! Yay!!!!!! Yay!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!

And today is meeting day at work... I love meeting day!

:-) M

ps Adam Nick told me you were moudly belly button lint and were too cheap to ever buy me a present (even a small one), and Nick Adam told me you were an ingrown toenail and didn't have enough class to ever buy me a present. What are you boys going to do about this?!

Answers

1. Why is Larry so Happy? (Amy)

Dear Amy, Lara is thought to refer to an Australian boxer, Larry Foley, who lived from 1847 to 1917. It's said that he was never defeated, retired as a champion, was relatively well off and lived to 70. I guess he was pleased with his life's outcome! The phrase "Happy as Larry" is thought to originate in Australia or New Zealand around that time, although the first official record of it was by a New Zealand writer named G L Meredith, who wrote in about 1875: "We would be as happy as Larry if it were not for the rats". This doesn't discount the theory about Larry Foley, but it is possible there is another explanation.

2. Why does everyone like Carl? (Andrew)

Dear Andrew, Everyone likes Carl because his name reminds them of the name Carlos, and everyone loves Carlos who is my Rooster Clock!

3. Is it better to be right or to be happy? (slartibartfast)

Dear slartibartfast, In my opinion it is better to be happy. Because I've been wrong many times but been happy about it. And sometimes you are sure of something bad, and then you find you were wrong and then you can be happy!

4. Question, why do women complain about guys checking them out, then buy Jeans with ROXY written on the ass? (BHN)

Dear BHN, first of many women don't buy stupid overpriced Roxy clothes. But secondly the reason is remarkedly simple: a) Women like to complain and b) Women like to look sexy. This may confuse you, that is our intention.

5. What does sassy mean? (Adam)

Dear Adam, sassy means vigourouse, lively, saucy etc full of spirit!

6. can you please tell me the gender and number of siblings for your mum, and your mum's mum, and if you can possibly, your mum's mum's mum? (laraCroft)

Dear Lara, for now I can only tell you about my Mum, but once I've talked to her I should be able to answer your question fully. My Mum has 4 siblings 2 brothers and 2 sisters. I think my Grandma just had one brother but I'm not sure. Why do you ask?

Meet the cast...

RHCP Lyric of the Day: Me and my, me and my, me and my, me and my, me and my friends

Um I guess alphabetically would be the way to go. And this looks like it's going to be quite long so you can just skip to the people you care about.

Adam: Right well honestly I don't really "know" Adam. But I have met him twice. And he is a good friend of my very good friend Nick. And I read his webpage everyday (despite the fact the updates are considerably less frequent ;-) ) and so sometimes I feel like I'm stalking him since I read about his life but don't really see him in person. But he does work with me although in a completely different building. And I can just tell he's sassy. Haha Adam I called you sassy!

Amy: Amy is my blister. Oops I mean sister. She is in her third year at uni doing economics honours (I know that doesn't add up third year - honours but it's true!). She is lovely. And she loves Disney A LOT. And she's not very good at giving objective views about Disney related things. She also is very passionate about movies in general. And she generously lets me use her projector on occasion and lets me borrow dvds all the time. I think she has more than our video shop. Oh and she's funny, and has proven to know almost as much Monty Python as me.

Andrew: Andrew is my cousin and flatmate. He has an impeccable sense of humour (due to the fact that it is almost completely inline with my own). He hails from Rotorua. He is a software Engineer at a company about 3 doors down the road from where I work. So sometimes at lunch we plan blog pranks which are probably only ever understood by ourselves and Kirsty (see below). And he plays the guitar, and likes Monty Python and Stargate is his most favourite TV show ever. He loves it passionately and always has.

BHN: (Big Hairy Nick) Nick is a big old friend from High School. I have known him since I was 15 I think. Which is a long time. He is one of the best guys I know. (Andrew is another of the best guys I know). Nick is doing a masters in something... um I'm not sure I know what tho, he seems to do lots of experiments tho. And he is a kung fu blackbelt... and to my surprise didn't really show me much mercy during a drunken demonstration on my bus trip last year (although fair enough, he did spend a large proportion of the evening looking sorry for himself after hurting his ankle). He also possibly has the best social skills I've ever seen.

Boris the Ostrich: Boris is an Ostrich. I don't know too much about him, except that he is not George who is my Ostrich friend that sits on our mantelpiece at the flat (he is a soft toy). Also public opinion seems to be that Boris is a dork. I guess he does look a bit dorky.

Bradley: Bradley is our cat. Well Kirsty's cat. But he lives with us. Despite the fact that Bradley looks so cute, and he gives great cuddles I didn't know how cynical and sharp he was until I started reading his posts. I guess he's just a manipulative juvenile delinquent. But he is really lovely. I wish he wouldn't try and run away.

Darren: Ok Darren never comments here. But since he is talked about he gets a mention too. Darren is my boyfriend of 16 months. He is an apprentice builder. We met at Shooters just after Christmas and he just wouldn't leave me alone after that ;-) He can be very very sweet and is funny and creative and has so many talents. Oh and he does kung fu too. And sometimes Dave Navarro looks exactly like him.

John F: Is probably the most famous person to comment on my blog. He is the most brilliant guitarist in the world. He happens to be the guitarist from the Red Hot Chili Peppers as well. His music has changed my life and it is such a privilege and honour that he comments on my blog.

God: God is the second most famous person to comment here. Hehe actually he is probably slightly more famous than John. I don't know too much about God either, as she hasn't talked about herself too much. She also hasn't commented in awhile and is dearly missed.

Killer Chicken: Some semi anonymous, very angry poultry.

Killer Sparrow: Seems to be a smaller version of the chicken.

Kirsty: My cousin and other flatmate (there's three of us). She is actually Andrew's elder sister. She has just moved to Christchurch this year... and much like I took an immense liking to Andrew when I got to know him last year when he moved here the same thing happened with Kirsty. It must have helped that she is really really really cool and also we're the two most beautiful girls in the world equally. Together we make the flat quite noisy... which is funny coz if Andrew tries to play his guitar during an important TV program he gets quickly shushed. Kirsty is in hospital at the moment for a short time, but when she's not she works for ecan, smelling gross things, and fining them if it smells too gross (or something like that).

LaraCroft: Well I suspect this is actually Lara Rennie one of my very best friends who is currently living in Auckland working for Beca as a software engineer/developer thing. We met after 2nd year over summer while we were both working in the Intelligent Computer Tutoring Group at Canterbury University and then went through to do computer science honours together. Lara is one of the loveliest people around, but she is quite hard to keep up with :-D

Oatmeal: My pet rock, who is actually called O'NEIL! For some reason he thinks it's funny to call himself Oatmeal. He is actually missing at the moment, I refuse to believe he's run away, I suspect foul play (maybe killer chicken has something to do with it... hehehe).

The Real Oatmeal: A bowl of Oatmeal. What more can I say?

TSauce: This is where I think my blog went from hilarious to ridiculous... but I love ridiculous so TSauce is very welcome anytime.

If I missed anyone it's probably because you didn't have a pretty picture. Also I had a dream about killer chicken last night. And remember tomorrow is ask Mindy day. So if there's anything at all bothering you... I'm here to advise you!

Post is Here

RHCP Lyric of the Day: Do you feel that you're fading too soon?

Ok well I'm not cold anymore but I'm still tired and what I really want is to go to bed. I have a feeling (a sick feeling) that I may be sick. I'm am hoping it is some kind of internal thing as opposed to something you catch - maybe a response to something I ate - just because I won't be able to visit Kirsty in hospital if I'm sick. I probably won't today anyway just to be safe.

But yeah weekend was good. Birthday was nice. Went to a housewarming on Friday night which was quite a different sort of night. Different group of people to usual but still fun. Then Saturday night went to a birthday party... showed up at 10 and the birthday girl had already left for some reason. If you think that is strange you should hear about the rest of the party. But you won't hear it here because I just can't be bothered.

On Saturday morning Andrew and I decided that since Kirsty was away we'd try and make the cozy room as messy as possible, so we did. The rest of the day if we had some rubbish, an empty food packet etc we just threw it on the floor. We also decided it wouldn't be properly filthy unless there was also food on the floor... so I chucked some pineapple into the room (admittely it was still in a can, I'm not that much of a pig). Anyway then we went and visited Kirsty and she was good. Then Sunday morning I cleaned up the mess (it was driving me crazy) and then we went to see Kirsty again.

And tomorrow I'm going to do character profiles for some of the major contributors to comments on the blog. Most have probably already figured out who is who, but it will be done regardless.

Also I'm closing the comments for last week's posts now.

TGIF!

RHCP Lyric of the Day: Walking on your tiptoes, don't try no doze, you'd better stay away from those that play around a firehose.

cellass

For some reason whenever I'm trying to think of a new lyric of the day the first thing that comes into my head is "look and see and I think you'll agree, nobody weird like me"... maybe that should be interpreted somehow. Anyway I'm not sure if I've used it or not but I thought I'd better think of another one - and despite this one actually being a Bob Dylan lyric, it is from one of my favourite RHCP covers ever so it stays.

Anyway I don't think there's anything special about today at all. Nope, can't think of a thing!

Last night went out for desert with Kim, Rach, Helen, and Michiko and it was lovely! Nice to see everyone as it had been awhile. Also hugs to Kirsty for today (no doubt you will notice her absence from the blog over the next week or so).

Yay enjoy the last day of the working week everyone!

:-) M

ps I'd like to encourage anonymous people not to be so anonymous ;-) you know who you are... and you know that we know who you are... so if you're tempted to be anonymous, for gods sake, just pretend to be Amy instead (coz that really annoys her!) or take on the persona of some aggressive animal, or even an inanimate object (shout out to TSauce!).

pps Monty Python quotations are strongly encouraged to be coordinated into comments (shout out to Killer Chicken and his/her not so worthy opponent Killer Sparrow).

Answers

Hi, I'll update this post as I answer more questions... and I intend to stand by my guarantee that by tomorrow every question will be answered! However, I won't be answering the questions in order.

1. Why won't my godfather buy me a duck? (Bradley)

Dear Bradley, I believe the reason your godfather won't buy you a duck is because he just doesn't understand how important it is to you to share a bond of this nature (ie a duck giver, duck receiver relationship). But don't worry I have a feeling he will come around in time, in the meantime just continue to show him love and respect and you two will be fine.

2. Why doesn't your mother buy the damn thing herself? (Bradley's godfather)

Dear Bradley's godfather, The reason Bradley's mother won't buy the duck herself is because she wants this exchange to strengthen the relationship between the two of you. She wants to see you grow closer... sure she could just bestow this amazing gift on Bradley bt he already loves her to death. It is really a gift to you that she is allowing you to be the duck purchaser.

3. Why won't you call me by my correct name? Are you ashamed of me? Also how would I get 3 elephants and a pink hippo in a fridge? (Oatmeal)

Dear O'Neil, YOUR NAME IS NOT OATMEAL! Your correct name is O'Neil, and I am only ashamed of you when you start using that ridiculous false name. As for the elephants and hippos there will be none of that young man, you are grounded (but use a really big fridge otherwise).

4. Hi there, I had a really busy weekend and I need to know what the best way of disposing of dead hookers is? (Anonymous and BHN)

Dear sick people. The best way of disposing of dead hookers is to collect them up, shove them in your car, then take them round to the person who asked about the Liverpool fan.

5. I have a friend who's a huge Liverpool fan. Liverpool just won something and he won't shut up about it. How can I get him to shut up, short of killing him? (Anonymous)

Dear friend of Liverpool fan. Shortly you should be receiving a large consignment of dead hookers. Take these round to your friend's house when he's not there and hide them in his basement. Then give the police an anonymous tipoff. A life sentence in prison should shut your friend up for awhile.

6. What is inflationary bias, with special reference to central bankers using discretion to set monetary policy. If you could incoporate the time inconsistency problem into your answer that would be fabe. (Alan Greenspan)

Dear Alan, the answer to your question is 42 + or - 3.5 (to allow for time inconsistency)

7. I have a question, who is this anonymous person? (Anonymous)

Dear mysterious friend, the answer to your question is you!

8. Am I still banned? I get cranky when prevented from doing as I wish. You dont want a cranky Ostrich on your hands - no siree, Billy Bob.(Which, BTW, is NOT a girls name). (Boris the Ostrich)

Dear Boris, No you are no longer banned. But if you refer to Billy Bob as a strictly only male name again I shall be forced to reconsider my position.

9. Why am I so hot?And why, dear god, do I never take off my shirt? (Daniel Jackson and Kirsty)

Dear Daniel and Kirsty, well I have to admit it is so incredible how hot you are that I was stumped for an answer, so I turned to a being slightly more intelligent than myself and asked God. She said that you were a gift from herself to all the female Stargate fans in the world to make up for the fact that there are only bastard male writers writing Stargate. Which brings me to the second part of your question, the reason you never take your shirt off is because of the bastard male writers of Stargate... if there was a female on the team you know your shirt would be off at least 77% of the time!

10. Do we regard utility as the quality of the experience or expectations being fulfilled? (Uryia)

Dear Uryia, we regard utility as the quality of experiencing the fulfilment of expectations.

11. So does that mean we need simply lower our expectations in order to increase utility while consuming a smaller number of goods, thus violating the concept of monotonicity (note, the careful use of the word good as opposed to a "bad" or a "neutral" (Uyria)

Dear Uyria, that is a good try I can see you have some understanding of the situation. But unfortunately you don't quite have this problem under control. Let me explain... What we need to do in order to increase utility is lower our quality fulfilment of expecting experience whilst violating the birdie dance and consuming un-neutral cheesecake.

12. Who are YOU calling a slag. (The Real Oatmeal)

Dear The Real Oatmeal, I was calling no one a slag, but I believe that Oatmeal was calling you a slag. Hope this answers your question.

13. Why is giving up a habit suddenly called "going cold turkey"? (Boris the Ostrich)

Dear Boris, In ancient times the phrase "going cold turky" was in reference to when turkeys (ancient turkeys, not these wussy modern turkeys) would randomly shed all their feathers. Local townspeople would see this and yell out "Hey you're going cold Turkey". This became especially more frequent as the winter months approached. Around this time a group of humans started the first nudist colony, where much like the turkeys giving up their feathers, these hardy folk would discard their clothes and live in all their natural splendor. And like the turkeys these people would get cold, and highlighting their similarity with the turkeys (whilst also insulting the nudists) , clothed people would yell "you're going cold turkey". From here I think you can see how the act of giving up everything all at once (be it a smoking habit or shedding all ones clothes) became known as going cold turkey.

14. Who is Darren oxo? (Killer Chicken)

Dear Killer Chicken, Darren oxo? Refers to my boyfriend Darren and then I was sending a special oxo message to him, which means hug kiss hug (I mean duh!).

15. Who is killer chicken? (Andrew)

Dear Andrew, Killer Chicken is the blog commentor who asked me who Darren oxo? was (see above).

16. Why do girls go to the bathroom together? (BHN)

Dear Bhn, there are two answers to this question. Answer A: Because in all girls bathrooms there's a hot sexy Daniel Jackson lookalike, who is willing to have three, four or five-somes. Answer B: Girls go to the bathroom together because girls like to talk. A lot. And sometimes privately. And sometimes in clubs etc (a common place for girls to go to the bathroom together) the bathroom is the only place they can talk. Another reason is because if someone else is going to the bathroom a girl may think "if I go now I won't need to go later by myself" and then they have company whilst travelling to and from the bathroom. Which makes perfect sense and I don't know why you didn't figure it out yourself.

17. Why are buttons (as in remote control) named the same thing as buttons (as in shirt)? (Boris the Ostrich)

Dear Boris, it is a little known fact that both TV remote buttons (and any push button of that nature) and shirt buttons were actually named after chocolate buttons... due, of course, to the similarity in their shape. Buttons have since evolved to many different shapes, but originally they were all round, and often chocolate coloured, just like chocolate buttons.

18. Do you do any work at all anymore Mindy? (Lara Croft)

Dear Lara, yes. I answered one or two questions for about 2 minutes each hour... which left a lot of time for working unfortunately. And I also answered a large number after work.

19. Why is it that green tea is brown? (TSauce)

Dear TSauce, green tea is brown because in days gone by Queen Victoria was given a gift of green tea by the Chinese Amabassor. Unfortunately the translator on duty that day was high on opium and also not very good at their job in general, and they incorrectly translated the word "brown" to "green". After that the Queen invariably called the tea green tea, and no one wanted to make her look stupid by correcting her and so it stuck.

Ask Marvelous Mindy TODAY!!!

RHCP Lyric of the Day:Psychic spies in China try to steal your mind's elation

Hello! Firstly I'd like to mention that I got a new pet last week! I can't believe I neglected to inform you of this sooner. Anyway his name is O'Neil after Jack O'Neil on Stargate. I wanted to call him T'ealc but I'm saving that name for the puppy I'm going to get when I've got a house. Anyway O'Neil, is a great pet rock! He's so cute! Also he has some very special talents... he can hang out in fire for a good half hour and come out without a scratch! (Or burn) although he did turn slightly pink but I can't figure out why in the world that would be. Anyways...

Tonight is my flat birthday party! Woo hoo! We're going to Cobb & Co and we're going to order traffic lights (or maybe pink panthers or blue lagoons). Well that's the plan. It should be great.

I'm looking forward to seeing all your questions... except maybe Nick's which I'm a bit scared of after his query yesterday. And possibly Andrew's might be a bit silly.

And hi to Darren! oxo who doesn't have a modem in his computer at the moment (he's very patient and lets his girlfriend muck around with his computer hardware, and then lose components) so doesn't get to read this very often, but I'm sure he'll be as excited as me that I got in total SEVENTY-THREE comments yesterday. That kicks Dave Navarro's ass!

2 sleeps till my birthday!!!

Sleepy

RHCP Lyric of the Day: Say it out loud I'm freaky styley And I'm proud!

Good morning everyone!

Sorry the blogger site seems to be down this morning, so I'm writing this before work and I'll post it as soon as I can... which if you're reading this would have already happened, but oh well.

I'd just like to say thanks for everyone's contributions yesterday. I thought it was quite hilarious and at more than one point I laughed out loud. Plus for a large proportion of the day I had more comments on my blog than Dave Navarro did on his! Woo hoo!

I don't really have much more to say today. I'm tired and my eyes are sleepy and I want to go home and go back to bed. And maybe watch Scrubs...

Ok have a nice day!

3 sleeps to my birthday!!

:-) M

ps I forgot to say that last night I had a dream where Kirsty came to my work in a panic because the flat horse was having medical problems. So we rushed out and got Andrew and then got attacked by a swarm of bees.

Sun

RHCP Lyric of the Day: The one who listens to the surf can feel the pulse beat of the earth

Good morning! It's lovely and warm in Christchurch today with a high of 17 degrees expected. Woo hoo! Plus I was up to see the sun come up, it was very beautiful.

My weekend was great. I saw Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy on Saturday night. It was the best movie ever! Bearing in mind I haven't read the books... and for someone who has read the books it may not have been. Needless to say I am eagerly awaiting reading the books... coz if they are better then the movie, well I just might not be able to handle it!

And Friday night I had a nice peaceful evening. Mum, Dad and Amy came round to visit which was great. And Sunday Darren went shopping with me. And he lasted about 40 minutes which was a terrific effort! :-D

Oh and this picture is a lovely picture by Roy Lichtenstein.

Lastly just wanted to mention:

4 sleeps to my birthday!!

:-D M
